“Wow! I’ve never seen equestrian photography like this before – your horse pictures are just amazing. Thank you, thank you, thank you Andy and Sharon for doing so a great job of capturing the spirit of Gilly.”
Angela Beard.
The old Yorkshire saying “What goes around comes around” has certainly proved to be true for Professional Photographers Sharon Malone and Andy Hopkinson. When they took on the task of helping an equine charity with a total revamp of their publicity material, little did they realize that the photographs they submitted would see the start of a whole new business for the North Yorkshire photographers pair.
So unique is their style of photographing horses that they are rapidly becoming one of the most sought after equestrian photographers in the UK today. Utilizing a variety of creative lighting techniques each creative portrait is worked around the character of horse or pony being photographed and their respective owners.
“The canvas of Mia and Steelie is a real “show stopper”….everyone who visits us comments on it. We have no hesitation in recommending you to our friends. We will be back in touch when Misty’s foal is born.”
Mr & Mrs I R Gregory
Pulling on his many years of photographing people and events, main photographer Andy quickly puts the owners at ease whilst he works his own particular brand of photographic magic in the pictures he creates. During the editing process Sharon, who has what she describes as “a love affair with horses” together with years of horse ownership behind her will help Andy to create photographic images which evoke an emotional response from owners at their first viewing. Together this makes a winning formula for some of the most beautiful and unique horse portraiture available in the UK today.

Horse Photography
The true definition of a portrait is to “portray the character, personality and likeness of the subject”. With The Horse Photographers photography of your horse, their aim is a bit higher: to capture the “spirit, soul and character”.
Andy & Sharon -The Horse Photographers, read your horses emotions and mood, looking into your horses eyes and to capture that inner grace and kindness in their photographs. The Horse Photographers study horse behavior and subscribe to the Monty Roberts approach to communicating, joining with and respecting horses. They do not subscribe to the theory that you need to “show them who is boss” or “dominate” them in any way shape or form. The safety, integrity and well being of the horse, you its owner and The Horse Photographers, during one of their horse photography portrait creation sessions is of paramount importance to them – there can be no compromise on this whatsoever.
“I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw the extent to which Andy went to photograph Frankie & Johnny – your laundry bill must be massive! I can honestly say we are thrilled to bits with the photographs. I wish we had found you sooner – when the children were younger with their Shetland ponies. These are the most creative horse portraits I have ever seen. Thank you for creating such beautiful imagery of our children does not seem adequate.” Mr Rupert Webb

Planning A Horse Photography Portrait
It is a requirement of any horse photography portrait creation session to have a design consultation to ensure The Horse Photographers are properly prepared for. Not only meeting you and your horse, but to plan exactly the style and type of equine portraits you are looking for – be it of your horse on its own, with yourself or your children and family. Should you like for your horse photography something creating a little “off the wall” such as previous commissions in a wedding and evening gown, this can be discussed at the design consultation. A make-up artist can be provided at extra cost should she be required. For more information see the “Bespole” page.

Why Choose The Horse Photographers For Your Horse Photography?
They say “never work with children and animals”. The Horse Photographers do both during their creative portraits and they do it extremely well. They are perfectionists in everything they do and offer and have a passion about their horse photography that is seldom matched and a skill that is second to none both in portraiture and creative lighting. They listen and hear the Whispers around them – be they from your horse, your child or from you. We believe The Horse Photographers horse photography is rather special, but then Horses are rather special too aren’t they – it is a privilege to have the opportunity to work with them in this way whilst undertaking their horse photography.
“We had never considered equestrian photography before until we saw the portraits you created for our friends. We are so glad we found you! Sharon has a natural connection with the horses – you can see straight away how at ease they are with her and Andy – the things you do with a camera and some creative lighting are amazing. Thank you once more.” Mr & Mrs David Shepherd.
